June 16 to June 22

Sunday June 16
Father’s Day. We went to 10:30 Mass and afterwards had breakfast with Lou and Carmel at BH. Sharon the only one to wish her dad Happy Father’s Day. Where did I go wrong? Worked on Thank you cards.
Monday June 17
Rain still. BH closed so had Keurig coffee. Finished the thank you cards and got them ready to mail. Bought some hanging baskets at Foodland.
Tuesday June 18
Lori drove her new SUV to work today and John made a special spot for her to park. We mailed the cards and went for lunch at BH. Finally got caught up on my Blog! I did five posts today.
Wednesday June 19
Finished packing the camper except for last minute food. Lori not here today. The water pump in Nellie is not working so John took her to DJ’s but they say it needs to be replaced and they can’t do it till next week. Went to the Anglican Church “Thank You Tea”. Not as good a turnout s they had hoped due to the United Church Strawberry Dinner.
Thursday June 20
Finished packing and had lunch at BH. Hit the road at 1:30. Lots of delays due to construction on hwy 7. Had fries in Marickville and got to the campground around 7 pm. We set up the canopy for shade but we have a nice flat site (#87) with a large tree.
Friday June 21
Carole C’s birthday. Slept till 9 when our neighbour decided to cut his grass. CW dropped the boys off at noon but returned home to go to Taylor’s grade eight grad. We walked to the beach (after I made my salad) with Philip and Alexandre and got our legs wet. Water was cold. Had ice cream at the snack bar and we went back to our campsite and had a nap. John W had arrived and set up so we visited with him till Sharon & TJ arrived. Christopher had organized dinner and we waited till Lori’s Mom Anne arrived. It was potluck with CW and Lori doing the pulled pork. John and Sharon buns and we brought a vegetable macaroni salad. Anne also brought salads. We had a campfire at CW’s but I gave up around 9, as the bugs were bad.
Saturday June 22
Sharon invited me to go to Lancaster so we went and I got a gift for Taylor and one for Carole as I had forgot the one I had at home. Also got some stocking stuffers and a large cone of black string that is good for Kumihimo braids. TJ had gone and got his sailboat and him and AJ had a sail but there wasn’t much wind. When we returned I went to make lunch when John W invited us to go to the Anchor. Lunch got put away real quick and off we went. Had a wrap and a draft beer. TJ and AJ had gone to check out a sailboat for sail and met us at the pub to report that it was in good shape. We returned with Sharon and John W, TJ and AJ went to buy the boat. I worked on some jewellery and Kumihimo. We heated up sausages for supper and went to a campfire at CW’s. It had rained on and off all day but wasn’t cold. The rain had stopped and the bugs were gone so we sat up till midnight.

June 9 to June 15

Sunday June 9
Went to 10:30 Mass at St. Paul’s and at the end of Mass Fr. called me forward and presented me with a gift. He commented that he was “going to cry”. The Parish BBQ followed and I received several cards and gifts and the two cakes had a rainbow with Happy Retirement Patricia on them. Went to BH for coffee after.
Monday June 10
We met Brian and Dorothy at BH for lunch and they have two more haircuts before they go to China. Rain again.
Tuesday June 11
So nice not to have to go to work! Lori not feeling well so didn’t come to work. Dull rainy day and didn’t do much except play on the computer and read and go for coffee. I love retirement :)
Wednesday June 12
Lori here. Nancy came over for coffee and brought me a beautiful miniature rose plant for my retirement. We talked about jewellery. I found my list for Meghan and the things I want to make.
Thursday June 13
Lori came today instead of Tuesday. Ladies Lunch Day. There were eleven of us. Carmel, Lorraine, Joyce, Judy, Colleen, Mary E, Nancy, her sister Betty, Hendrina, Marg V and me. A great time was had by all and I splurged and had one of Paul’s famous deserts, deep fried cheesecake. In the evening John went to his last Lion’s directors meeting.
Friday June 14
Lunch at BH
Saturday June 15
Arrived at Gayle’s at 11:00 am and had a sherry before picking up M and went to the Butternut Cafe for lunch. Afterwards we walked around Cobourg and then got in line at 1:30 pm for the concert “A Coronation Celebration” at Trinity United Church, Cobourg. Doors opened at 2 and the concert started at 2:30. The 150 people joint choir was excellent as was the Concert Band of Cobourg. The content left a lot to be desired. It started off with O Canada in French?????. Several English and Canadian composers, which were great but what, do Kismet (American composed) Abba (Swedish) and Les Miserables (French) have to do with the Queen? Even the Andrew Lloyd-Webber selection was questionable (Don’t cry for me Argentina?) The final numbers were very good and appropriate. Lots of good British songs and flag waving. Rule Britannia!
After dropping Gayle and M off we went to DQ for supper.

June 2 to June 8

Sunday June 2
Met Christopher and his boys at the Marina at Long Sault and had breakfast with them. They went back to Cornwall and we went to the McHaffey Flea Market at Morrisburg. John bought a flashlight and I got a book. Go figure! We travelled up Bank St and over to Barhaven to see TJ and we bought a light fixture for the Library. We had a quick lunch with him and then travelled to Greely. Meghan dropped by as TJ had left his phone in our car and after she left we had a wonderful spaghetti dinner with Sean and Tammy and Stephen and Charlie. Sat and chatted with them and went to bed early.
Monday June 3
We got up early and left at the same time as Sean and Tammy. We stopped in Perth at McDonald’s for breakfast. Got home around 12.
Tuesday June 4
Slept in and had a leisurely morning. Managed to get 4 loads of laundry done. Weather has cooled done again. Coffee at BH. Watched some taped shows.
Wednesday June 5
Got one more load of laundry done as they are calling for rain till Sunday. Tried a new recipe with the wild asparagus Lori brought to us. It was called Asparagus Surprise and had ground beef, asparagus cheese and mashed potatoes. Very good.

We went to BH and sat with Lou and Carmel for a few minutes till Meghan and friends arrived. We joined them for brunch. I gave Meghan lots of fibres to make jewellery with and they admired the bedroom. After they left we went to the BBQ at Larry and Leklek’s. The BBQ pork was delicious! Saturday June 1
Left in the morning for Cornwall and went to the Kerig store for coffee before heading for the armoires. Annual Inspection went very well. I was impressed with all the boys. Philip and Alexandre did very well in the drill and both Alexandre and Patrick were in the band. At intermission they had a concert featuring some of the core alumni and current band members and Meghan played with both the twins. We had a short visit to the Mess and then went to Mass at Sacred Heart in Cornwall at 5:00. When we got back to Sharon’s she managed to BBQ chicken before the thunderstorm! We had a lovely supper with her and Meghan. Afterwards we watched Disney’s Brave.

Tuesday May 21
Cathy joined me at work today to get an idea of what to do. She took me to lunch at BH.  John and I went to the Historical Society meeting. Judy gave a rather long and sometimes boring talk on the Grover Family. Parts were interesting but al little too much info on the family that didn’t have anything to do or live in Asphodel/Norwood. Humid and thunder storms.
Wednesday May 22
John had blood work done. Went to work and Carole picked me up and we went to the Skillet for coffee (BH closed Wednesday). We sat and talked for an hour and got caught up on the news. John put the wardrobe in the guest room. Still humid and threat of thunderstorms.

Friday May 24
One more week to go. Met Meghan and her friends Joseph and Angie at BH. They were on their way to Bordon.
Saturday May 25
Gina and Kyle’s wedding at the Navy Club. Weather just right not too hot and not too many bugs. Lovely wedding and Zoe made a grat wedding planner. We left after the dinner and met Sharon & John at Aunt Joan’s and then we went home and had a pleasant evening.

May 12 to May 18

Sunday May 12
Mother’s Day. Went for breakfast but Lou and Carmel didn’t show? After we went for a drive and stopped at The Cottage Gardener for some Sweet Pea seeds. They weren’t open but sold us the seeds anyway. We then headed to Port Hope. Stopped at a Dollar type store and bought some craft supplies, cards etc. Then downtown and John got some more Cod liver oil and Malt. The Bargain Store was closing and we bought a few things there. Went to the Butter tart bakery in Cobourg and got 4 tarts and went to Gayle and Diana’s for tea. Home around 3:30. The weather was terrible. We went through, snow squalls, ice pellets, rain and sun. Temp varied from 2°C to 8°C. Sharon sent an email and Christopher phoned to wish me Happy Mother’s Day.
